Some days I was so desperate for answers that I would search and search, not realising the answer I needed was right in front of me. Now I have a little technique about finding those answers that I want to share with you.
When things don’t quite feel right, I’m feeling under the pump or I’m not really sure what I need to do next I’ve learnt that the answer is right in front of me.
Note – We all go through these feelings of uncertainty no matter how far down the path we are.
Sometimes it’s as simple as pulling a book off my shelf and opening up a page and seeing where I land. Other days it’s diving into the abyss of audio files and podcasts I have on my phone.
These ‘random’ selections will often yeild the answer I need to nudge me in the direction I need to take.
This morning I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. I’m creating and preparing a lot of new stuff in my business which is also competing with all the demands I have in my family life.
I was feeling uncertainty and resistance around what I had to do next.
So I reached up to my bookshelf and pulled down one of my favourite little books ‘When I loved myself enough’ and opened up the page to this…
‘When I loved myself enough I learned to stop what I am doing, even if for a moment, and comfort the part of me that is scared.’
That’s it! I’m stepping into something new and the next version of me. I’m stepping closer to my bigger vision and I’m a bit scared.
Every time we stretch and grow there’s that feeling of unease. That feeling of not quite knowing if it’s going to work. Not quite knowing if we’ve got what it takes.
Now all these thoughts come from the years of conditioning to keep us safe and small.
But, when you and I are stretching ourselves, growing and stepping into that vision we have that we know is out there for us, we’re stepping into the unknown and it’s scary.
I want to let you know that it’s OK. We all feel scared at some stage.
We just need to acknowledge that feeling scared means that we’re at the cusp of that stretch and next layer of growth. If you’re not feeling scared about something than you’re too comfortable.
So I’ve acknowledged that I’m scared and that’s why I’m resiting a little. I’m stepping into another layer of growth and as I step closer to my bigger vision it feels a little uncomfortable. As much as I want to do it and know deep within that I can and I’m here to do this, I’m feeling scared.
I wanted to share this with you so you know it’s OK. Each time you’re feeling scared, acknowledge the feeling and know that you’re stepping into something new.
Don’t let that scared and uneasy feeling stop you. Keep stepping forward and stretching yourself and keep growing. That is how you’re going to get to where you want to go.
